The next generation of Cloud Computing

Monday 13 February 2017

The next generation of Cloud computing has arrived with AWS, Microsoft and Google and at this years IP EXPO Manchester, you can hear from their experts.

Ultimately, every company benefits from having developers spend less time worrying about infrastructure and more time implementing features and functionality.

Server-less computing is a fundamentally different way to build applications and removes the need to think about hardware whilst dramatically reducing costs.

Cloud Computing

At IP EXPO Manchester 2017, Technical Evangelist at Amazon Web Services, Ian Massingham will be covering AWS Lambda. AWS Lambda is a compute service that lets you run code without provisioning or managing servers. It executes your code only when needed and scales automatically, from a few requests per day to thousands per second.

In this deep dive session, Massingham will describe use-cases where customers are using AWS Lambda to service, and demonstrate how it functions to integrate with event sources, such as the S IoT, or Amazon S3. He will demonstrate how AWS Lambda is a powerful tool for building scalable and sophisticated applications, all without a single operating system or server to manage!

Also hear from James Akrigg, Head of Technology for Partners at Microsoft, who has worked in and around the IT industry for over 29 years, which includes the last 14 years at Microsoft in the UK. His passion for technology and what it can do to deliver real value and benefit to businesses of all sizes and to individuals is clear to see when he presents and meets with Microsoft partners and customers. James is able to simplify how to use a mix of technologies to deliver solutions in today’s challenging business environments.

Lets not forget the other major player in the Cloud computing space - Google! Matt McNeill, Head of Google Cloud Platform, UK & Ireland Google, joins us this year and is responsible for the business development, sales and account management teams.  He and his team are focused on helping Google customers in adopting and using Google’s Enterprise Cloud technologies, including Google Compute Engine, App Engine, BigQuery, Machine Learning and Big Data solutions.

Having joined Google Enterprise in 2009 as UK & Ireland Industry Head for Retail, and worked with foresighted customers such as Burberry, Specsavers and Ocado to be the first of many retailers to adopt Google Apps for Business. In 2011 Matt took up the EMEA lead for Enterprise Business Solutions, and led the launch of the Google Cloud Platform compute and Big Data business in EMEA.  Matt then spent 2 years leading the account management for Google Cloud Platform in EMEA and responsible for managing the largest customer deployments and ongoing relationships in the region.
